Stereo Show to Support Mildenhall Event
The Mildenhall Treasures exhibition features the latest in virtual reality – but you may not know that the Victorians had their own virtual reality in the form of 3D photography. Running alongside the Mildenhall exhibition will be a fully hands on showcase, looking at 3D all the way from the Victorians through to the 1980’s.
Presented by Paul Bond, a local author on the subject and a member of the Haverhill Local History Museum, the display will be suitable for all ages.
On show will be a large number of original 3D viewers (all over 100 years old and a couple nearer 160 years old), lots of original stereo photographs, a few vintage stereo cameras as well as more modern material from the 1920’s to the 1980’s including the iconic view masters. You will be able to get hands on with almost all of the items on show.
So, if you want to know what a busy London street looked like without cars, or if the moon is really spherical or learn how stereo could have saved your life in WW2, or on the operating table, this four-day showcase will entertain and educate in equal measure.
The Haverhill Local History Museum will also have 14 Roman coins that were found in Kedington by a metal detectorist and some Roman pottery from Wixoe to look at.
