Open Mic Spotlight Artist: Chloe Bartlett

Ahead of our Open Mic Night events we are promoting an exciting new artist who will be performing on the night.

Leading up to the next show on Thursday 6 March we interviewed frequent HAC Open Mic performer Chloe Bartlett, who talked about her inspirations, her latest singles and announced her debut album, Home with the Devil, to be released this year.

You can read more about Chloe and her music on her website: www.chloebartlettmusic.com

What’s your style of music?

My style of music typically tackles very dark themes and leaning into and exploring them deeply. This leaves it out to many interpretations, connecting with my audience on many different levels. Live, I tend to play acoustically, but love the rock genre and have a very rock-style album in the works.

What inspires you?

My main inspirations within the music industry are Amy Winehouse and Queen. They both had so much love to share in many different ways and this is something I strive to do as well. There are so many mysterious and challenging topics in the world, and that truly inspires my writing.

What instruments do you use?

I play many different instruments; guitar, drums, bass etc. However I choose to write all of my music on a beaten up Yamaha guitar handed to me by my grandad. It’s older than me but with the right treatment, she still plays like a dream.

Any recently released music?

My latest release is “BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU” featuring BAILEE. There are so many songs in the making ready for this year!

What’s your favourite song that you’ve written?

This truly depends on how I am feeling and can change from day to day. Lyrically, I do favour my unreleased track “scared city” as of right now.

What’s your favourite song to perform?

My favourite song to perform is called “Forbidden Fruit” and this is due to the audience interaction I am able to conduct. During the chorus, there is a very easy opportunity for the audience to join me in my performance, and this is something I value highly.

Don’t miss Chloe at our next Open Mic Night on Thursday 6 March.
