Meet the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk: Magic Kai

Making his Haverhill Art Centre Christmas pantomime debut, Magic Kai will play the role of Simple Simon in Jack and the Beanstalk. Ahead of the show we caught up with Magic Kai and asked him some quickfire Christmas-themed questions.

Favourite Christmas song?

My favourite Christmas song is “Merry Christmas” by Elton John and Ed Sheeran.

Do you open any presents before Christmas day?

Not really unless I go out with a group of friends, or secret Santa gifts and we open them all together on that day, but other than that I wait until Christmas Day.

Tell us your worst Christmas cracker joke.

Okay here we go… What’s the difference between Batman and the Grinch? Batman can go into Whoville without Robin 😂

Favourite Christmas food?

Got to say Pigs in blankets on a roast dinner, I have too many! 😋

Favourite Christmas film?

My favourite Christmas film I’ve got to say is Elf as it’s a great movie for the whole family.

Worst Christmas present you’ve ever received?

Last Christmas I got this new smoke machine, I got really excited and plugged it all in in my mum’s living room then I pressed the smoke button – I didn’t know how powerful it was the whole room was white! So we really did have a white Christmas! 😂

Do you have a weird Christmas tradition?

Every year, one night I go on a Christmas light open roof double decker bus tour with my family around the Isle of Wight.

If you have pets, do they get dressed up?

I have a magical rabbit called Pixie and she dresses up with a Christmas festive hat.

Favourite pantomime?

Oooh this is a hard question I love all Pantos, I love all the hard work which goes into making such a beautiful show, but I’ve got to say I think my favourite is Cinderella my dream is to play Buttons one day 😁

Stay in or go away for Christmas?

I usually go away for Christmas as living on the Isle of Wight is lovely during the summer, but in the winter there’s not really a lot to do as it’s very seasonal over here. So it’s nice to head off the island for a bit.

Best thing about this year’s pantomime?

Oooh this is another hard question as there’s so many good things – from an incredible talented cast and director to an amazing script, also I’m bringing a couple of my Big Illusions to add some special magic to the show. So I’m sooo excited to get started!! 🤩🤩
