Inside Haverhill Science Festival 2024

After months of excitement, the inaugural Haverhill Science Festival came to a close with a bang following a thrilling rocket finale at the Community Science Day in East Town Park.

More than 200 visitors stopped by to enjoy science-related activities with STEAM Co., Merck’s Curiosity Cube, Dr. Mark Gallaway, CHaOS (Cambridge Hands-On Science), our resident storyteller Shane Ibbs, the Haverhill Men’s Shed and many more.

The Community Science Day followed an exciting week of events which saw every school in Haverhill getting involved. Students took part in activities ranging from rocket marking to robotics and programming, with Samuel Ward Academy hosting a talk with the first British astronaut, Helen Sharman.

The week also included enlightening talks with renowned scientist Lord Robert Winston and professor of experimental physics at the University of Cambridge, Russell Cowburn. Businesses were also able to connect thanks to networking events at The EpiCentre and a hugely successful jobs, skills and wellbeing fair at Haverhill Arts Centre.
