Open Mic Night Spotlight: Zac Neill

Ahead of our Open Mic Night events we are promoting an exciting new artist who will be performing on the night.

Leading up to the next show on Thursday 28 November we interviewed Zac Neill, a singer-songwriter and lead singer of 2Late4Apologies. Zac shed light on his inspirations and musical styles as well as details of his newest single Do I Look Like This To You? .

Zac will also perform at West Suffolk College Theatre with his band 2Late4Apologies on Thursday 5 December.

What’s your style of music?

“My style of music, due to limited resources, revolves around acoustically written stuff, although I’ve been beginning to venture into more poetry focused things, giving me a chance to learn how to use instrumentals as an emphasis on my words rather than it be the forefront of a song.”

What inspires you?

“Art pieces have been a major inspiration at the moment. I’ve been researching different artists and writing songs based on their pieces and how I interpret them. Musically, artists and bands like Sofia Isella, Billie Eilish, Ashnikko, Alice In Chains and many more have been an inspiration on my music at the moment.”

What instruments do you use?

“Solo, it’s just me and my acoustic guitar Nigel, with the occasional loop pedal appearance. As part of my band, 2Late4Apologies, it’s electric guitar, sometimes drums or bass depending on how much we get bored of our own instruments.”

Any recently released music?

“I’ve released a new song to YouTube at the moment called Do I Look Like This To You? a song about living with body dysmorphia.”

What’s your favourite song that you’ve written?

“Probably a song written exclusively for my FMP for college called ‘I’m Going Home’ written from the perspective of someone dealing with some pretty heavy tendencies, based on an art piece about major depressive disorder by Shawn Coss. ”

What’s your favourite song to perform?

“My favourite song to perform is probably be my husband, a loop cover I learnt in my early days of live looping, but it has proven to be a favourite amongst the regular faces at my gigs.”
