Meet the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk: David Learner
Back for his second year performing in Haverhill Art Centre’s Christmas pantomime, David Learner will play the villainous role of Fleshcreep in Jack and the Beanstalk. Ahead of the show we caught up with David and asked him some quickfire Christmas-themed questions.
Tell us your worst Christmas cracker joke.
What did Jack the Dairy Farmer get for Christmas?
A cowculator
Favourite Christmas food?
No contest. Turkey. Okay, mince pies as well, oooh ooh ooh and pigs in blankets. Sorry, pigs …
Favourite Christmas film?
Always was the classic It’s a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart until I saw The Holiday. Rom com Christmas, that’ll do. Surprise contender could be Last Christmas with her off Game of Thrones. Happily watch that again.
A dressing gown. We’ll leave that hanging, shall we? I’ll write a book about it one day.
I remember one white Christmas, when I was eight or nine. What snow there was didn’t make it past lunchtime. I’d been up very early to go sing in the church choir and it was magical. I’ll never forget that walk and the view from the top of the hill. So I try and repeat it now, every year, getting up when it’s still dark, popping my head out of the door, to check whether it’s snowed.
‘Fraid so. Poppy the black lab wears her showiest bandana. Mostly covered in food by the end of the day!
Snow White… wow, maybe it’s because of that one white Christmas…
Home. Always home.
Getting to be a baddie for the first time ever!!! I’ve been watching Michael Palin in Life of Brian for inspiration. Ha ha!
